Father Aaron Nett grew up as the third of five children in his family (3 brothers: Ted, Chris, and Ryan and 1 sister, Sarah). They were raised on a dairy farm near Farming, Minnesota. His parents are Ed and Beverly Nett (his father is deceased and his mother is retired). The Nett family were active members of the St. Martin Parish.
The seed for his priestly calling was planted at about 10 or 11 years old when his grandmother Catherine said that she had hoped for him to become a priest.
Father Aaron is a 1995 graduate of Albany High School. He was a star player in three sports during his high school years: football, basketball, and baseball. He attended North Dakota State University on a baseball scholarship. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He continued his higher education while earning a master’s degree in special education while teaching special education in Alexandria. It was during this time that his calling for the priesthood began to grow. He entered the seminary in 2008. He spent two years at St. Paul Seminary, then finished four years while attending North American College in Rome. (And yes, he did meet Pope Francis!)
Father Aaron was ordained on June 21, 2014. He spent time at St. Augustine’s and St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud before joining our parishes.
